Project name
Open Collective
Open Source Collective is a 501(c)(6) nonprofit fiscal sponsor that provides financial and legal infrastructure for thousands of open source projects.
OSC is a key component of the Open Collective ecosystem. As a network of organizations, Open Collective provides the software platform, while OSC (along with other fiscal host organizations) offers fiscal hosting services.
As part of the branding strategy for Open Collective, it became necessary for the financial service providers to have its own distinct identity and be perceived as a separate organization from the platform. I spearheaded the development of a new brand, working closely with OSC stakeholders, to establish a brand that would help the thousands of open-source projects hosted by them to better identify and trust their host organization.

A new brand for an Open-Source Fiscal Host
The identity of a community of more that 3000 projects

There were two main vectors that provided direction:
Tech-oriented + Community
We designed a brand that was clearly on the tech side, and with an open, approachable aspect that communities could relate to.
As secondary goals, the brand needed to convey a sense of solidity, reliability, security, and trustworthiness.
